Nintendo's continuing copying of Apple

Many, myself included, have shunned Sony for copying from Nintendo and Microsoft over the years; Rumble, Analogue sticks, motion sensing etc. But there is another copycat out there, it's Nintendo.

2004, Nintendo releases the DS

-"oh god its hideous" the consumers cry

Nintendo responds with the DS Lite and Wii in 06-07

-"Thats better, but somehow it reminds me of my iPod and Mac, oh well im sure its just a coincidence" the consumers say cautiously.

2007, Apple shows signs of dropping white in favor of Aluminum for its signature style.

Months later Nintendo Announces a Silver DS Lite

-"Hmm..."

why cant we all just get along and respect other companies?! Or else we would all be playing our Vii's right now instead.

- Nintendo plans to start a service center to help people set up the internet at their home, in order to aid them in getting online with the Wii.

- A DS download service is coming that will allow us to download DS demos from our Wii

- Sonic is playable in Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Sonic is shown, delayed in Japan until January 24, 2008, online co-op of some form (IGN translation may be wrong on this)

SumGiant

Here's a little free advertising for my new favorite website.

Ever wanted to have achievement points like all the X360 owners do. hell maybe ur a X360 owner but play other consoles too and wish they had achievement points too. whatever the case, this site will do it. although a little manual ticking boxes is needed. also most games havent got a list of goals to complete as the site is still in its infantacy.

dont worry, people like me (and possibly you too), are working hard to fill in the gaps. heres the site:

SumGiant

and my page (my points would be higher but most games ive played dont have goals to complete yet (im sending them in!)

Stolen Wii, then returned, then stolen again

hehe, i thought this story as just too funny not to post.

In Calera, Oklahoma, a man was arrested on marijuana possession charges Sunday.

The 18-year-old man stole a Wii along with other items from a woman’s home. He then brought back the console and offered a bag of marijuana as an apology.

When the woman refused the drugs, the man came back the next day and stole the Wii again, reported Calera Assistant Police Chief T.J. White.

I'm Alive!

...But my computer isnt. Sorry for the lack of updates, my computer suffered a fatal Harddrive failure... currently typing from my parent's PC, with a brand new iMac in the mail and heading to my house sometime in the next 7 days. regular updates will follow.

So... What's in the news today, bunch of Japanese titles hit the Aussie VC, including Mario Picross (SNES) and Super Mario Bros 2: Lost levels (NES), both for heightened prices, and the later only available until September for some odd reason Nintendo only knows.

Also on the VC front (until someone emails me looking to run the VC updates part of this site *wink-wink*), the shop channel will start selling TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM² and TurboGrafx-16 SUPER CD-ROM² games, they will be 800 Wii-points, and there should be a select number of titles available by the end of this year. Following this news story, rumors break out about a much needed Wii harddrive to store CD rom image files, which can be up to 700mb!

Wii is number 1!!!

Just recently the Wii passed the 360 with total units sold worldwide. Technically because VGChartz waits for the end of week/month sales data to roll in before updating the sales figure, Wii went passed the 360 sometime last week. Anyway, heres the current data:

and because these are self updating, if ur viewing this from sometime in the future (tell me the lotto numbers!) these figures will be very different. Who knows, maybe the PS3 will end up beating both of them. *snicker*

Why we play games

Researchers at the University of Amsterdam are doing a study on why we play games. Click the link to take part. It goes for like 10-15 mins, i did it myself. This study should hopefully make some developers take notice, and that can only mean a good thing.

I will post the results of the study when they become public
